Dr. Komkwuan “Kwuan” Paruchabutr, DNP, FNP-BC, WHNP-BC, CNM, FACNM, FNAP, FAAN, is a triple board-certified advanced practice clinician, educator, and national women’s health leader dedicated to advancing holistic, evidence-informed approaches to health across the lifespan. With more than 20 years of experience spanning trauma and critical care nursing, primary care, midwifery, women’s health, and military service as a U.S. Army veteran, she brings a systems-level perspective on prevention, resilience, and whole-person care to both clinical practice and population health strategy.
Dr. Paruchabutr earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Syracuse University, completed her graduate nursing education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Kansas, and received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University. She holds board certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Nurse-Midwife, enabling her to provide comprehensive, lifespan care to individuals and families—from adolescence through pregnancy and midlife to healthy aging.
She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University’s Berkley School of Nursing, where she leads graduate education for women’s health nurse practitioners and midwives and develops innovative curricula focused on prevention, cardiometabolic health, integrative therapies, and evidence-based clinical decision-making. Her work challenges siloed models of care by reframing women’s health beyond reproduction alone, emphasizing the interconnected mental, physical, and social determinants that shape long-term outcomes. She advocates for recognizing women’s health as both a clinical priority and a key driver of workforce participation, family stability, and economic longevity.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, the National Academies of Practice, and the American College of Nurse-Midwives, and Immediate Past President of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health, Dr. Paruchabutr has led national policy initiatives, co-authored position statements, and advised organizations on strategies to improve equitable access, health literacy, and preventive care.
Through collaborations with academia, professional organizations, and industry partners, she is passionate about translating emerging science into practical education for clinicians and the public. She brings expertise in women’s health, integrative care, and population engagement to help advance evidence-based innovation, responsible communication, and holistic solutions that empower individuals to optimize health and longevity.
